Assaf Newmark, PSP
Construction Scheduler / Project Consultant
Assaf Newmark is the founder and principal of Spectrum Consulting (Spectrum). He holds a master’s degree in Construction Management from Southern Polytechnic State University (SPSU now Kennesaw State University) and was accredited the Planning and Scheduling Professional designation (PSP) by AACE International in 2015. His experience in a host of scheduling roles has enabled him to furnish a variety of services in construction planning and scheduling, cost and resource loading, forensic analysis and stakeholders’ contract considerations pertaining to schedule management. He was a featured expert speaker at the third Annual 2020 Advancing Construction Planning & Scheduling Conference on the topic of fundamentals for improved schedule buy-in by the project team.
Mr. Newmark is fluent in planning, scheduling and analysis software including Primavera P6, Phoenix Project Manager, Microsoft Project, Microsoft Visio, Schedule Analyzer and Aegis-Rubix as well as project management software including Procore and Bluebeam. His project experience and technical skill facilitate service offerings to general contractors, owners, construction managers construction, real estate advisors and construction attorneys including; scheduling criteria for subcontractor RFP bid packages, scheduling language in construction contracts, baselines and completion schedules creation and/or third-party schedule review, routine schedule management and pull planning, procurement management, cost management, owner’s representative schedule oversight as well as forensic analysis for delay claims. His construction scheduling experience includes projects in the multifamily, high-rise condominium/apartment, high-rise hospitality, healthcare, education, student housing, automotive dealerships, airports, civil and transportation markets.
Before founding Spectrum Consulting, Mr. Newmark provided CPM scheduling services for a large, well-known commercial construction scheduling firm in the Southeast where he worked on a variety of projects including high-rise hotels and condominiums, multifamily communities, airports, power utility, education, courthouses and civil construction. Prior to this post, he furnished CPM scheduling services for TransCore ITS, and URS Corporation (now AECOM). In his functional roles, he has served as a scheduling manager, project scheduler, and scheduler team member.
Mr. Newmark was previously a member of the Association for the Advancement of Cost Engineering International (AACEI) and served as its 2016 Vice President of the Atlanta Section. He remains current on scheduling best practices through a variety of professional entities including the AACEI publications, the Oracle Primavera Users Group (OPUG) Southeast chapter and attendance at various conferences.
While pursuing his Master of Science in Construction Management at Sothern Polytechnic State University, Mr. Newmark served as a graduate teacher’s assistant instructing undergraduates in scheduling and construction finance courses. During his academic tenure, he served as student president of both the AACE International and CMAA student chapters and was the recipient of the Georgia Engineering Foundation AACEI scholarship in 2009. His graduate academic achievement was memorialized in the 2009 edition of the Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities & Colleges.
